30 Day Book Challenge: Day 13- Book whose main character is most like you

This is one of those books that I really can’t wait to pass on to my children and grandchildren! It is so good! It was written in the 1940’s, but it still seems relevant and interesting today. The main character’s name is Cassandra, and she is a writer! For a little bit of background knowledge, the book is about Cassandra writing in her journal about her life. She lives in an abandoned castle with her scatter- brained father, selfish older sister, younger brother, and a few animals.:) She is trying to “capture the castle” by writing about it, it is a little hard to fathom. She is a hopeless romantic as well! This is an adorable romance, but is surprising at the end! If you haven’t read it yet, you DEFINITELY should! 🙂

  1. I remember reading this back in second year of university in a course called ‘the novel’ and absolutely loving it, now I can barely remember it so I think it might be time for a re-read! But I DO remember loving the main character and being really intrigued by the way Dodie Smith ‘captures’ the process of writing and becoming a writer. Great choice!

  2. S.Z. Williams

It’s hard to believe this is the same woman who wrote The Hundred and One Dalmations.
