30 Day Book Challenge: Day 1- Favorite Book

As you can tell by the title, I have decided to join the 30 Day Book Challenge! I am super excited to do this, and I think it is really interesting to read everyone’s different take on this. No worries, I’m not stopping the rest of my book reviews or anything else. Just adding a little something! I’ll try to do this every day, but I can’t promise anything. Sometimes I just need a day off. 🙂 I think this was created by A Novel Place! To see her blog, click here.

This is probably tied with I Capture the Castle for my favorite book ever! But since I expect to be reusing books, especially I Capture the Castle, I used Fire instead. Once I reread this, I’ll do a review of it. But basically, it is about a girl-monster named Fire who is extremely beautiful. This particular “monster” is the only human monster left.  Monsters are seen as a danger to society because they can control humans’ minds. Fire decides that she doesn’t want to use her beauty to control people, yet she is still shunned.  This is her journey of using her powers for the good of her country, and inspiring hope in a war-ravaged world.  It could be seen as a love story (and even though it is not meant to be one, it is one of my favorites).  I LOVE this book, I reread my copy probably about once every 2 months at least. So if you haven’t read this yet, DO IT!

Update- LOVING The Princess of the Midnight Ball! And I called my local Barnes and Noble and ordered a paperback copy of Divergent! It ought to be there in 3-4 business days! Well worth waiting while listening to elevator music! 😀 I can’t wait to read it!

  1. Hmm, I’ve seen the 30 day book challenge mentioned before, but what is it? Do you try to read a book a day? (not even I’m that quick. 😦 ).

The premise of the book sounds fascinating; I may have to give it a peek over at Amazon to see if it jives with me.

    Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    • No problem, sharing is what I do! 🙂 Basically, you have a list of days (day 1, day 2, etc. all the way up to day 30) Every day has a kind of prompt, like your favorite book, or a book you started but never finished, that kind of thing. You don’t have to read the book that day to post about it. And definitely check it out; I tried to make it short and sweet, but this book has much more depth than I could fit! Also, she wrote Graceling (another great book, but not as good as Fire in my opinion) and her 3rd book Bitterblue is coming out in May. All 3 of her books are in the same world/area but with only a few similar characters.
Hope you enjoy it if you check it out!
      Olivia 🙂
